I had a class with Mr. K and Ms. N today. I felt excited about meeting them in person because this is my first time meeting a student personally and teaching them not in an online manner. Our class started at 9:00 AM PST and I arrived at the place at 8:00 AM PST. Too early right? The place was conducive for learning. It is very clean, spacious and very quiet.
The students are very accommodating and speak what’s on their mind. I was able to discuss the following topics to them: Adventure, Perception of Beauty, Charity and Goodwill, and City Living. We really had fun during the class because the students are very cooperative. They’re not shy in expressing their ideas and opinions about the lesson. They were able to ask question about the new words that were introduced to the both of them. They were able to manage to answer all my questions even if they don’t have the real experience about them. At 11 AM PST, we had our snacks which is a Filipino food called ENSAYMADA and resume our class after 15 minutes.
At exactly 12 noon, we had our lunch. The foods that were prepared were Adobo and Pakbet , all Filipino food. After lunch, we went out to explore since they want adventure. We went out at exactly 12:50 PM PST and rode a Grab car going to SM North Edsa to buy stuff and for sightseeing. The driver drops us to the main gate of Trinoma that is why we also had a chance to see what’s inside the mall. I was able to introduce our national costume which is the Barong Tagalog and the fiber used to make the said costume. They were also amazed with our native products. Our next destination is the SM supermarket where they bought Otap, Piyaya, Polvoron, mangoes, and some biscuits. Before going home, we stopped by in a cosmetic store where Ms. N bought an organic lipstick.
At exactly 4:15 PM, we went home. We rode a jeepney and a tricycle since they want to try to experience while they are in the Philippines. I can see the satisfaction and happiness on their faces while exploring and trying new things. When we got home, we rest for a while and discuss our last lesson for almost 1 hour. At 6 PM, we had our dinner. The foods that were prepared were Chopsuey and Cordon bleu. We had a mouth-watering dinner. After eating, we had some picture taking.
“Learning is a two-way process, you teach and learn at the same time”. Overall, teaching in JKILC is fun, challenging, and overwhelming.

今日はKさんとNさんとレッスンでした。生徒さんにお会いするのも、オンラインではなく（直に会って）教えることも初めてのことでとても緊張しました。レッスンは9:00スタートだったのですが、私は8：00に到着しました。早すぎますよね? 宿舎は”学習”にとても良い環境です。キレイで広々していて、とても静かです。
生徒さんたちはとても親切な方たちで、思っていることをいろいろ話しました。旅行、美容、チャリティーや善意での活動、住んでいる町の事などです。生徒さんたちは熱心だったのでとても楽しくレッスンが出来ました。恥ずかしがらずに考えや意見を伝えてくれました。新しく出てきた単語についても質問ができて、たとえ過去に経験がないことでも、私がした質問にしっかり答えてくれました。午前11時に15分程の休憩をした時にENSAYMADA (エンサイマダ)という、フィリピンのお菓子を食べました。
ちょうど正午のにランチにしました。用意されていたのはAdobo(アドボ)とPakbet(パックベット)というフィリピン料理でした。ランチの後、冒険をしたい(フィリピンを見てみたい)とのことだったので、外出することになりました。午後12:50ちょうどにタクシーに乗りSM North Edsaに向かい観光とお買い物をしようとしていたのですが、なぜかドライバーはTrinoma(トライノマ)のメインエントランス(に止まり)私たちは降りました。それで3人でモールを見て回る良い機会でした。私はフィリピンの民族衣装Barong Tagalog(バロンタガログ)とこの衣装に使われる(特別な)繊維を紹介出来ました。2人とも伝統工芸品には感動しているようでした。次に向かったのはSMスーパーで2人ともOtap(オータップ)、Piyaya(ピタヤ)、Polvoron(ポルボロン)、マンゴーとビスケットを買っていました。宿舎に戻る前に(フィリピンの)化粧品屋に立ち寄って、Nさんがオーガニックのリップスティックを買って帰りました。
午後4:15に宿舎ることになり、生徒さんが滞在中に乗りたいと言っていたJeepnyとTricycleに乗って帰りました。何か新しいことにチャレンジしている時の2人の表情から、満足しているのがよく分かりました。宿舎に戻ってから少し休みながら、今日のレッスンの事を1時間程話しました。午後６時の夕食の時間になりました。用意されていたのはChopsuey(チャプスイ)とCordon bleu(コルドンブルー)でした。夕食を食べてから、記念に写真を何枚か撮りました。

いつも、JKILCでのレッスンはとても楽しく、新しいことに挑戦ができて、圧巻です。
